FAQ

Your kitchen is a bespoke product and each project is different so some timescales and processes may differ to that outlined above. Please note that timings can vary throughout the year, but we will advise at the start of every project the timescales involved.

When do I need to pay a deposit?

Deposits are paid upon placing your order and are usually 45-50% of the kitchen value. You will then receive a start date for the commencement of works.

Is aftercare included?

After the kitchen is installed we will leave you with a welcome pack which includes all user manuals and warranty information. It is a good idea to register any warranties as soon as you can. Kitchen furniture has different warranties to appliances so your designer will talk you through this. We will also leave you with a client sign off sheet. If, for any reason, you are unhappy with any aspect of your new kitchen we would urge you to contact us as soon as possible so we can rectify any issues.

What are the stages from conception to completion?

Please refer to ‘From Concept to Completion’.

When buying a kitchen there are many questions you may have. We have compiled a list of our most commonly asked questions, but should you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to get in touch with a member of our friendly team on 01992 374210 or info@towerkitchens.com.

Do you offer a design service?

Yes. Tower Kitchens design, supply and install high end German and UK designed and manufactured kitchen units. We offer a render service which allows you to visualise your kitchen before you order. The company specialises in solving the requirements of Architects, Developers and Builders, understanding and interpreting the client brief, with minute attention paid to budgetary constraints. Your kitchen is an important and expensive purchase; we offer a comprehensive project management service, taking your initial brief through the complete design process to installation and completion.

Do you come on site to measure?

Yes. We offer a comprehensive project management service, taking the contract from initial client brief through the complete design process to installation and sign off. We manage every step to ensure a problem free conclusion. Alternatively you can supply your own measurements and dimensions via info@towerkitchens.com.

Do you supply your own tradesmen?

This depends on what you are having done to your kitchen. If you are replacing your kitchen with a like-for-like one and retaining your existing appliances, our kitchen installers will be able to re-fit everything for you. Our installers will also be able to fit new appliances compatible with your existing power supply. If, however, you are moving any power sockets or having new appliances which are not compatible with your existing power supply you will need a certified electrician which you are welcome to organise yourself or we can put you in touch with a trusted company. Please be mindful that this would be an additional cost and included in the quote.

Do you charge mileage?

No. We work all over the country and will not ever charge for mileage.

Do you charge for your design service?

No. We offer an initial home visit and design service free of charge. You would not have to pay for anything until a design and quote was agreed (just before the order process).

Do you fit kitchens?

Yes. We have a team of experienced and fastidious kitchen installers that will ensure, on site, no detail is left to chance. Our fitters are purely kitchen fitters and not, for example, electrical engineers, plumbers or builders. If you choose to significantly change the layout of your kitchen it may involve changing electrical points, water supply or require new flooring. We can recommend such tradesmen for you, or alternatively we are able to instruct and hire extra tradesmen if necessary. We do ask for the electrician to speak to you directly about positioning of new sockets and lighting.

Can you supply appliances?

Yes. We supply a comprehensive range of fully featured appliances at all price points. These include Miele, Smeg, BORA, Quooker, Hotpoint, Indesit, Insinkerator, NEFF, Rangemaster and Siemens. We can also supply a selection of other branded appliances, sinks and taps. If we are unable to supply a specific brand that you would want competitively then we would happily install ones that you have sourced yourself.

Can we use our existing appliances?

Yes. If you have appliances that are still working and fit with the new design we would not encourage replacing them for the sake of it. If the new kitchen is a like-for-like then you would not have to hire a plumber or electrician to refit your existing appliances.

Do you offer supply only?

Whilst we always prefer to fit the products we sell, we appreciate that there will be occasions where you want to either fit it yourself or have it fitted by someone else. We offer the same level of service regardless of whether it is fully fitted or supply-only. The only thing we would recommend with supply-only kitchens is that your fitter checks the plans prior to ordering the kitchen to ensure that they are happy with the items that are being supplied. They are more than welcome to speak with our designers should they have any queries.

What kind of worktops do you offer?

Prior to manufacture in the United Kingdom, our worktops are carefully templated to ensure a perfect fit and our wide ranging choice of materials include, wood, granite, acrylic, quartz, resin and even melamine.

What are your cabinets constructed from?

Generally the carcass of a cabinet is constructed from MFC (melamine faced chipboard). We offer a range of door materials from solid wood to chipboard and MDF. All cabinets come with soft close hinges and all of our drawer boxes are heavy duty metal sided soft closing or oak dove tail (depending on whether you order a standard or in-frame kitchen).

Can we pick our paint colours?

Most of our door ranges come in a vast choice of colours with matt and gloss options. If you are having a bespoke kitchen, some of the ranges can be sourced unfinished so you could use the brand and paint colour of your choice.

Where are you based?

We are based in Standon, Hertfordshire and have a unique showroom, housed within a Victorian Water Tower in Essendon, Hertfordshire. This one of a kind space allows you to get creative and experience the very best from Tower Kitchens. Please contact 01992 374210 to arrange an appointment to meet with one of our designers.

Do you supply handles/knobs?

Yes. We can supply a large range of handles and knobs. Alternatively you are more than welcome to source these yourself.

Do you have samples?

A variety of samples are available to view in our showroom. When it comes to designing your new kitchen, you’ll want to experience it first-hand; touch it, feel it and see a range of options up close.

Can I keep my existing floor?

Yes. If you are thinking of changing your flooring, this will normally be prepared before the installation of your kitchen and then fitted once the kitchen is complete. For ceramic tiled floors we would recommend that this is fitted prior to kitchen installation. We are able to recommend experienced flooring specialists should you need it.

Can we supply our own worktops?

Yes. The only thing we would recommend with is that your fitter checks the plans prior to ordering the worktops. They are more than welcome to speak with our designers should they have any queries.

I’m having an extension/new house built – when should I contact you?

It is important to give yourself plenty time to consider the kitchen design. Your builder may require a plan early on in the process so that they can allow for the plumbing and electrics. We suggest that it may be beneficial to contact us as soon as you can to ensure a smooth and timely process.

Can you rip out our old kitchen before installing the new?

Absolutely. We would need notice of this and to allow up to one week to remove the old kitchen before starting work on your new one.

Do you take the rubbish away?

Yes. If we are fitting the kitchen we will always take our rubbish with us. If you would like us to also dismantle your existing kitchen prior to installation, we can organise for a skip to be included within the quote.

What are the lead times?

We have a positive track record of completing our projects both on time and within budget. Our award nominated head designer, Jonathan, leads a skilled team, with many years experience in creating inspiring innovative design concepts.

Our lead times start from the point of confirming the order details are correct and ready for production. We will work with you to determine the best date for when you would like works to start which then allows you to arrange your electrician, plumber etc (unless you would like us to book this for you). The planning stage is largely up to you, and the time involved will vary depending on the size and shape of your kitchen and the changes you want to make. Should you want to make any changes after the design is agreed, this will of course push the timings back.

  • German kitchens – 6-8 weeks lead time from order
  • Handmade bespoke kitchens – 8-10 weeks (depending on the spec)
  • UK kitchens – 2-4 weeks (depending on stock)
  • Kitchen installation –1- 5 days (more depending on whether the original kitchen needs to be taken out, flooring to be put down etc)
  • Worktops – fitted in approximately 7-10 working days, depending on size and complexity
  • Finishing touches (appliances fitted, handles etc) – 1-3 days
